A) Hi Benchgirl, First of let me say that there are a few misinformed individuals out there who are criticizing prepaid cards for no reason whatsoever. The simple fact is that prepaid cards are NOT for everyone but they can be absolutely godsent for some. If you have a bad credit history, do not have a bank account or do not want to have a bank account or do not want to get into debt, then prepaid is fantastic. In terms of choices, i'd list the following 1. Splash Plastic - http://www.splashplastic.com - the most stable offering, well priced and definitely one i would recommend. 2. Quidity Card - http://www.quiditycard.com - again very good but the fees are slightly higher than Splash although both splash and quidity are provided by the same firm 3. Cashplus - http://www.mycahsplus.co.uk - a good offering - more expensive than 1 and 2 above with one additional drawback - it is a mastercard product as oppossed to Maestro - so is the target of fraud more often - so if you are risk averse go for 1 or 2 4. ExtremeCred - http://www.extremecred.com - good looking card but 1,2 and 3 are definitely better. Also with extremecred, you need a debit card to apply for the card which kind of beats the purpose of having a card. Now if you really want to confuse yourself, visit 1. http://www.moneysupermarket.com/cards/credit_card.asp and select prepaid cards and quick search or visit 2. http://www.which-prepaid-card.co.uk/features/compare-cards-prepaid.html Lots of options, i'd recommend Splash or Quidity with Cahsplus a good alternative. A) Depending on when you left the uk depends on whether you will be able to book with a uk travel company. Price all depends on when you are planning on travelling, as airfares are all based on seasons - peak, mid, low.... Your best bet is to try phoning different travel companies as if you want to fly jnb-lon-jnb again i doubt you will be able to book it/get a quote online with a uk agent.

I need to action a credit card chargeback, how do i go about doing it?

Q) I recently ordered a pair of sunglasses from a reputable, "porfessional" looking website in the US (i live in the UK). This site has received no negative reviews/press so I was very confident buying my glasses 50% cheaper than anywhere i could find in the UK. I received my glasses and this is when the problems started. First, they had sent me the wrong model. Pretty annoying. Then, on closer inspecition, I noticed the glasses actually looked used. This was pretty much confirmed when i noticed that the right arm had a small chip of paint missing. The front of glasses have metal detailing on the top of the lense. This metal detailing had grazing running on its upper and underside edge. I find this totally ridiculous and incredibly bizarre considering the website has received good write ups. I have emailed them with as yet no reply. If they do not reply/refund, i'm gonna need to do a chargeback. Im with Morgan Stanley & paid through PayPal. What do i say to Morgan Stanley? Thanks I dont want to action anything with PayPal - it will take too long and i simply do not have the patience to wait around on something as important as my finances. A) i use the alpha blue phone card in the UK to call out but these can only be used from land lines for free, as mobiles charge for the number used.

Access USA?

Q) Anybody have any experience using Access USA to purchase goods in the US and have them shipped abroad? I'm especially interested in certain foodstuffs (the non-perishable kind). There are so many things available by mail order to US residents that you just can't get here in the UK, and Access USA advertises that they not only ship international where the merchant will not, but that the cost is up to 70% cheaper AND they have a facility for getting around that foreign credit card number. I'd like to sign up with them but first want to know if anybody outside of the US (especially in Europe) has used them, and if so, what their experience was like.

Alamo Car Hire Upgrade and I.D. Required?

Q) Hi all, I am due to be flying from the UK to Orlando in September and I have prebooked a standard two door car with Alamo on their Gold Package scheme. I want to upgrade to a convertible, and would it be cheaper to upgrade in advance through my travel agent or wait until I actually collect the car on the day. I just don't want to run the risk of there not being a suitable car on the day. I remember Dollar cut me a great deal on the day a few years back, but this was in rainy season. Also, what kind of I.D. do you need to present with the Gold package? Seeing that everything is prepaid, do you still need to give a credit card swipe? Thanks in advance, bebetrois

A) I don't know for sure. However, I would assume you need to show a DL and a credit card. They need the CC in case you wreck the car. As for the reservation, if you really want an upgrade, you are best off doing it in advance. Otherwise they could be sold out. If you don't mind taking a chance on a car not being there then wait til you get there and it might be cheaper. Remember though, that if they don't have the car you reserved, they owe you a better car at the same price.
